If you think running the contest and judging is all, nope now is time for the prizes to go out to the winners! Plus, I am huge on sending a thank you to each sponsor again as they made the contest along with the guys that submitted entries! Without either, there is no contest!
So, it appears I should be mailing out the plunder this weekend or next weekend (or both depending) and I am already getting responses from sponsors to the blog. Again, PLEASE check them out they have links to the left side. These are great people and great products/music, enjoy!
As things are calming down I am going to start painting and playing more again! The threat of the ever evil 40th birthday looms over my head and I sigh....not sure what I want to do for my birthday. Really, a nice dinner and some hobby stuff would be all I want. Guess I am that simple kinda guy!
I do have plans to help host a Blood Bowl league at my LGS in a few months and I am looking to host something over at my Dice of Legends blog with some other type of contest again. Maybe Old West or WWII seems to be the choices....
One of my next articles tackles solo games and how to add a random element to them without making them predictable.
Shambler, see the tiny frog I have to detail more?
All these are from Reaper Miniatures and overall I am very impressed with the quality and price I got from Miniature Giant (discount retailer of Reaper miniatures).
The Werewolf was very cheap and the new resin they are working with for the most part is very nice and inexpensive. The only complaint I had about the model is the weird (as said by someone else coon like tail) and the resin is rather soft. I did notice that once I left him in the sun while primering the model was rather soft and I had to stick it in the freezer to harden it quickly to avoid it warping.
I do need to go back and do some touch up work but I am happy with what I have so far!
A new "translate" feature has been installed in the upper right side for ease of access in other languages.
Well, it was some close voting there for several of the
entries. I have to admit it was hard to do the Styx Pick for the second spot
and wow we had several great entries from everyone. I want to say thanks to
everyone that entered.
I also would like to make a few comments on the works:
Meitzer: The Journal of a Threshold Agent was great work and
well thought out. The pictures really helped capture the game and the public
voted that way. I will also say the doomsday Device was VERY close with
Anatoli. I always like the bad guy to win first and the music was simply the
Mason: Great work, humor and great layout that really made
the cake to this one. The eye candy you put into this was great.
MrHarold: You chomped right at the heels of Mason in my
picks. The comic format was great and the alien twist made for a great feature
along with the great scenery and game format.
Anatoli: I am a sucker for great camera work (due to my mass
media background) and the close ups and pan sweeps was well done, good focus
and blended well. Video quality is what won it in the end. The Crypt was well
done and was very enjoyable great work there. The pictures were again a testament
to your background.
Enethaeron: Tristes Tropiques had a great flavor to it; the
story was great and well done. This was another very close runner for Styx
looking work and very cool for the scale and scenery really brought attention
to a smaller scale that I never considered.
YIU: The Cultist, simply great work, creative, funny and
just well done in general. Great job and it shows by the voting and comments.
Necrocanibal: Escape Into Danger was another fine work well
done, great photos and another tough contender for the title.
PMs will go out with each round of prize picks and I shall
update the list each round.
Once draws are done I will ask for your mailing address and
mail out your goodies or notify the sponsor to send you the prize you picked!
My apologies on slow posting, the printer acted up and I had
to wait to get to work to print the drawing names and such.
Thank you to everyone that made an entry and followed the
blog. Any feedbacks about the blog or contest are welcome.
Last but not least! A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE SPONSORSto
this contest. Without them you would not be taking home all this cool swag! Take
a moment and hit the links on my blog to these fine people and support them
(pssst that means buy something from them to keep them in business) as they are
good people and offer great products either in Music or Miniatures!
Things have been busy and crazy the past few weeks and I am in the process of closing out the Strange Aeons contest tomorrow night. Most of the work has been done except announcing the winners, letting them pick their prizes and off to the post office!
Still, I have not been idle with my hobby in several aspects including Strange Aeons....so a few teaser shots of things I hope to primer, finish painting and wrap up soon.....among other backlogged stuff!
Most of this is either leftover stuff from my prior Black Cat purchase, some random odd purchases or trades (see below) and an order of Reaper Figures from Miniature Giant. More on a review on the figures and the retailer! I did manage to stop today and round up some War Machine bases so I could finish basing those I could not before.
Zombie dogs, added some nice touches of the dog pissing on the skull and the other dog protecting his "bone".
Shambler and Clockwork Jeeves by Reaper
Figure Jeeves will be something big and nasty.
Reaper Bones Werewolf next to Uncle Mike's Manaic Santa.
The Santa came out of a trade and the Werewolf was my test for Reaper Bones line, agan I plan to review later.
Leftovers of EM4 figures here. A bit smaller against Uncle Mike and Black Cat (some EM4 matchs well and others do not). I had to remind myself that not all humans or animals are all the same size...so to me the smaller snakeman, human or hybrid (that could be a child in hiding) makes sense.
Some randome small stuff. The rat was from Grenadier or Ral Partha like the one I painted before. The sewer grate and tentacles are from Black Cat.
This is a Glom from the Reaper line. Figure this would make a nice Conglomorate or some other undead block of bodies!
WIP paint job, figure I would use it as an Ancient Warrior
Reaper Banshee, forgot her name but they make several nice ghosts and that is what I planned to use her for is simply a ghost.
Mummy from Reaper..he was inspired by at the time my pending trip to the Museum of Science and Industry that is hosting Mummies of the World exhibit here in Tampa until September. My wife and I got to walk through the exhibit today and all I can say is AMAZING. If you can see it, it is well worth the money. Just the type of ways how bodies could be preserved and the science behind it is just crazy beyond words. I asked my wife later on if they would be pleased we was doing this to their bodies or would they be mortified for our actions?
A funny thing happened at the exhibit, some guy was trying to be a jerk to the worker there as he asked "is that part of the guy's spine sticking out between his legs?" and she answered in a polite fashion that was his "organ" and the guy was trying to act dumb to get her to say penis or dick instead. Yes, it seems when you are preserved as a mummy part of the ole johnson survives the ages! If my wife was not with me I would have just said, "Good god man! That's his Mr Johnson and his name must have been Hung Well based on the size of that dried up willie!" Just to throw it back on the guy.
